ABOUT US
Leaflee sits on about 80 hectares of rural farmland which is located in the Lovedale Region of the Hunter Valley Wine Region in NSW Australia.
The farm is mostly wooded and carries a small herd of Angus Cattle, Wiltshire Horn Sheep and Orpington Chooks, all of which are breed for local consumption. The biggest lamb from the spring drop ends up invited to the Christmas or New Years spit roast. So in this house its pays to skip meals and be the runt of the litter.
Other animals include Charlie the goose. Charlie was hand reared almost 7 years ago. There used to be a large flock of geese on the farm until the great goose tribulation in September 2008 which presented as the single largest case of lead poisoning experienced on the farm to date. Charlie started off as an abandoned egg and he couldn't crack his way out. He was found by the kids, had the shell peeled back by hand and surprisingly he survived the night. He was hand fed until able to fend for himself. Charlie shows his appreciation of humans by trying to bite most people that come any where near him. So much for gratitude. There is also Pearl, a black staffy who is smart like a brick. Most of her time is spent laying around the place or chasing sticks and passing wind. She is scared of the sheep and cows making Pearl very useful as a farm dog. There was a cat Puss, who had traveled with us from Cobar to Melbourne to Brisbane to Singleton and finally to the farm. She was 18 years old when she finally succumbed to lead poisoning (Jan 2009). Puss is now working hard pushing up a Robinia tree near the avairy.
My wife and I have two girls, one in Uni and the other in Year 11 (2009)
